The Cuddle Chemical

As a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist I talk to people about ‘feeling good about themselves, their relationships and their work and/or purpose in life’. Generally, when our lives are balanced in these areas the production of the ‘feel good’ neurotransmitters: Serotonin, Noradrenalin and Dopamine are enhanced and we feel good! These chemicals play a part in helping us to cope, be motivated and in turn we can feel successful and cheerful.

There is also another chemical change in the brain that happens when we connect with people. If it's a close relationship, oxytocin, sometimes called the 'cuddle chemical', can be released. But even if you're with friends that you're not especially close to a good laugh with someone can produce endorphins which calm the mind, reduce pain and minimise anxiety.

So, why not help yourself to a little happiness today and meet up with a friend!
